AI Assistant

Grafida can send your article, or a part of it, to an AI provider you configure, and bring the reply back into the editor. It never uses one on its own: nothing is sent anywhere until you ask for it, on an article you are already working on.

The one switch

Settings → AI assistant turns the whole feature on or off. It is on by default.

Turning it off does not delete anything. Your configured services, their stored keys, any custom tools you have written, an edited system prompt and every saved chat are all kept and come back exactly as they were when you turn it back on. Off simply means the feature is not there: the AI entry leaves the navigation drawer, the AI button leaves the article editor, and Grafida sends nothing to any provider.

What it is built from

• AI Services — the provider you send requests to, and where its API key is kept.
• AI Tools — the ready-made prompts on the editor's AI menu, and how to write your own.
• AI Chat — using the assistant on an open article, and what happens to a conversation afterwards.

What Grafida is not

There is no AI model built into Grafida. Every request goes to a provider you choose and configure yourself — a hosted service such as OpenAI or Anthropic, or a server you run yourself, such as Ollama or LM Studio. Grafida is the same on every machine it runs on; the model doing the writing is whichever one your chosen service points at.
